일본 전자업체 샤프가 대만 폭스콘(홍하이)에 넘어가게 됐다.

교토통신과 NHK 등 일본 언론에 따르면, 샤프는 25일 임시 이사회를 열고 대만의 폭스콘이 제시한 총액 6천600억엔(약 7조2천782억원) 규모의 지원안을 수용하기로 결정했다. 일각에서는 지원 규모가 7천억엔(약 7조7천193억원)에 달한다는 이야기도 나오고 있다.

According to Japanese media NHK and Kyodo, on February 25, Sharp held a provisional board of directors and decided to accommodate a support of the size of 660 billion yen presented by Taiwan's Foxconn. Some also argue that the support scale amounts to 700 billion yen.

 

샤프는 이날 폭스콘이 증자 참여에 따라 의결권이 있는 샤프 주식의 약 66%를 확보하게 된다고 발표했다.

이번 결정으로 창업 104년이 넘은 일본의 대표적 전자업체인 샤프는 매출액 15조엔(약 165조원)대의 거대 외국업체로 편입되게 됐다.

일본의 대형 전기·전자 업체가 외국 기업에 인수되는 것은 이번이 처음이다.

양측은 앞으로 샤프의 기술 및 브랜드 파워, 그리고 폭스콘의 세계적 판매·조달망을 잘 조합해 상승효과를 극대화하겠다는 전략이다.

샤프는 이날 폭스콘으로부터 유입되는 자금 가운데 2천억엔(약 2조2천억원)을 차세대 패널로 불리는 OLED(전류가 흐르면 스스로 빛을 내는 형광성 유기화합물) 기술 개발에 투입하겠다고 밝혔다. 샤프측은 자사 재건 파트너로 폭스콘을 선택한데 대해 "각 사업부문이 함께 성장해 가는데 필요한 자금 확보가 가능할 뿐 아니라, 재무상태 개선에도 큰 도움이 되기 때문"이라고 설명했다.

일본내 일각의 기술유출 우려에 대해서는 "개발, 제조 기능은 일본 내에 유지하고, 유출 방지를 위한 실효적 수단을 구축할 것"이라고 강조했다.

Concerns about technology leakage in Japan stressed that: "Development and manufacturing capabilities wlil remain in Japan and establish effective means to prevent leakage."

 

그러면서 폭스콘측으로부터 종업원 고용유지 및 현재 사업부문 유지 등의 약속을 받았다고 덧붙였다.

폭스콘은 액정 사업 분리 등 샤프의 해체까지 검토하는 일본 민관투자펀드 '산업혁신기구(INCJ)'와의 경합에서 고용 및 사업의 원칙적 유지를 내걸면서 샤프측의 지지를 얻어낸 것으로 알려졌다. 또 일본의 대형 은행들이 가진 샤프의 우선주도 1천억엔에 매수하겠다고 제안해 은행측의 지지도 받은 것으로 전해졌다.

폭스콘이 샤프에 제시한 지원안은 약 5천억엔 규모의 증자 및 우선주 매수 등을 합쳐 총 6천600억엔~7천억엔대에 달한다.

폭스콘은 총 지원액 가운데 1천억엔을 보증금으로 조기에 지급하기로 약속하는 등 샤프 내의 불신감 해소에 주력하고 있다고 교도통신은 전했다.

일본 산업혁신기구는 출자 3천억엔, 융자 2천억엔안을 제시했던 것으로 전해졌다. 이는 샤프를 액정 등 사업 부문별로 해체하는 방식을 통해 일본 전자업계를 재편하려는 정부 구상과 맞물린 것이다. 산업혁신기구는 또 샤프 거래 은행에 대해서는 우선주 소각 등을 통해 3천500억엔 가량의 추가 지원을 요청했다.

양측의 지원안을 놓고 샤프측은 지난 24일 정례이사회와 간부회의를 열어 어느쪽을 택할지를 논의했으나 최종 결론을 내지 못한 바 있다.

스가 요시히데(菅義偉) 관방장관은 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "이번 결정으로 샤프가 성장하길 기대한다"며 "고용 확보 및 지역경제의 기반 확보에도 도움이 되길 바란다"고 말했다.

Kyodo said: "Foxconn is focused on eliminating distrust in Sharp promising to pay a total of 100 billion yen of total amount as deposit in the early. INCJ has reportedly offered 300 billion yen of investment and 200 billion yen of loan. This is engage with government initiative to reshape the Japanese electronics industry in a way to dismantle Sharp by division. INCJ has requested additional assistance of around 350 billion yen through incineration of preferred shares about Sharp bank. On 24th, although Sharp discussed whether choose either to place the esupport of both sides to open the precedent of the Board of Directors and the Caucus but it failed to a final conclusion. Yoshihide Suga Chief Cabinet Secretary said in a meeting with reporters: "Sharp look forward to growing this decision. I hope this helps to secure employment and the based regional economy."
