전설적인 미국 팝스타 고(故) 휘트니 휴스턴의 딸인 바비 크리스티나 브라운도 엄마처럼 약물을 복용했다가 결국 생을 마감한 것으로 드러났다.

4일 미국 언론에 따르면, 혼수상태로 6개월간 투병 끝에 지난해 7월 사망한 브라운의 체내에서 각종 약물 성분이 검출된 것으로 부검 결과 나타났다.

브라운은 지난해 1월 미국 조지아 주 애틀랜타의 자택 욕조에서 의식을 잃은 채 발견됐다.

얼굴을 아래로 향한 채 머리가 물에 잠긴 자세는 2012년 2월 11일 캘리포니아주 베벌리 힐스의 한 호텔 욕조에서 휴스턴이 숨진 자세와 비슷해 큰 충격을 줬다.

의식을 회복하지 못한 브라운은 호스피스 시설에서 투병하다가 작년 7월 26일 눈을 감았다.

생전 코카인을 복용한 것으로 알려진 휴스턴의 사인은 당시 우발적 사고에 따른 익사로 결론이 났다.

법원의 명령에 따라 이날 브라운의 부검 결과를 공개한 풀턴 카운티 검시 관계자는 부검 당시 브라운의 체내에서 마리화나, 술, 코카인 부산물, 의사의 처방으로 제조된 불안 치료제, 그리고 모르핀 등이 발견됐다고 밝혔다.

검시관은 검출된 모르핀이 헤로인의 복용 결과물이라고 단정할 수 없고, 자살인지 타살인지도 불분명하다고 덧붙였다.

AP 통신의 의뢰로 검시 보고서를 살핀 텍사스대학 사우스 웨스턴 의료센터의 응급의학과 교수인 폴 왁스는 약물의 종류가 특이한 것은 아니라면서 브라운이 다량으로 복용한 뒤 욕실로 갔다가 욕조에서 익사한 것 같다고 평했다.

그는 브라운이 욕조에 들어가기 24∼48시간 전에 약물을 복용했고, 하나씩 복용했는지 한꺼번에 다량을 입에 털어 넣었는지는 알 수 없다고 덧붙였다.

브라운의 약물 복용 사실이 밝혀짐에 따라 '유독성 음료'를 그에게 제공했다는 의심을 받아온 브라운의 동거인이자 남자 친구인 닉 고든의 결백 주장에 힘이 실릴 것으로 보인다.

He added that we did not know Brown took drugs before 24-48 hours of entering the tub and whether Brown took drugs one that she has taken or took much at the same time. According to reveal the fact of Brown's drugs, it seemes to have added strength to argue Nick Gordon's(Brown's partner and boyfriend offered the doubt that gave the poisonous drink) innocense.
